Iced Coffee and Tea with Your Keurig Machine

It doesnâ€™t get more Southern than a tall glass of iced tea on a hot summer day and of course Southerners arenâ€™t the only people who enjoy iced tea or even iced coffee for that matter. It can be a huge disappointment to be all ready for that sweet iced tea only to find that someone drank the last glass and it takes time to brew a new pitcher. With the new Keurig Platinum B70 machine iced coffee and tea can be made in a matter of minutes with no fuss or mess.

Making iced coffee and tea with the Keurig machine is the simplest process there is. The new Platinum B70 has an iced beverage setting that only allows 3 oz. of water to run through the K-Cup. This creates a very strong dose of coffee or tea that can be iced and sweetened to make the perfect cup of iced tea or coffee. Rather than adding water to the strong shot that is brewed, a double-walled cup filled with ice is placed under the Keurig brewer. Once the K-Cup is inserted the iced beverage selection is chosen and the shot dispenses into the cup filled with ice.

As the hot shot of tea or coffee begins to enter the cup the ice cubes begin to melt and create the iced beverage. The ice melts to dilute the strong shot of coffee or tea and at the same time begins to cool the beverage at the same time. Once the brewing ends all that is necessary is a quick stir and sweetener if desired. Testing of the Keurig Platinum B70 shows that the ice cubes do not all melt quickly and because the ice slows the melting process the ice remains in the cup for as long as an hour.

Other Keurig models will work to make the same beverage but they must be models with different sized settings so that the output from the K-Cup is strong enough to make a high quality beverage once it is diluted by the ice. This does not mean other models canâ€™t be used it simply means it may take more experimentation to get the brew just right. It is simpler to use the Model B70 and be assured of getting a quality glass of iced tea or iced coffee. The best glass to use when making these iced beverages has been shown to be a thermal travel mug or double walled cup to slow the melting of the ice.

Using the Keurig to make iced tea is one of the best ways to always have freshly brewed iced tea on hand whenever it is wanted without waiting on a pot of tea to brew, be sweetened and chill before drinking. In addition, the large varieties of K-Cups that are available make it possible to have an almost endless array of iced tea flavors and iced coffee flavors at anytime. Experiment with the different flavors and find the ones that tickle the taste buds the best.

Families who have several iced tea drinkers that require different variations, such as unsweetened, will find that using the Keurig to brew fresh iced tea by the glass is an innovative new way to always have the freshest possible tea made to order. Iced coffee drinks are just as simple to make and just as delicious.
