The history of Grindmaster


For the last 77 years, Grindmaster products have been synonymous with innovation and quality. Initially, the company focused entirely on producing commercial and retail coffee grinders and was highly respected for its quality grinders.

Over the years, Grindmaster expanded its offerings to include a range of beverage dispensing machines, including foodservice level products and those targeted to the consumer market.

Today, Grindmaster’s products can be found anywhere coffee lovers go for coffee, from local convenience stores and eateries to the break rooms of businesses worldwide.

One of their signature products is the Grindmaster OPOD PrecisionBrew™ Single Cup line of coffee makers, which are perfect for home or the office. The coffeemaker uses a special brew basket that lets you use a wide range of coffee or tea pods, so you’re not stuck with a proprietary coffeemaker and its limited selection of coffee blends.

Even better, the GPOD has Grindmaster’s BrewControl™ Flavor Selector, which lets you adjust the strength of your brew, something rarely found on other pod machines. The extra large reservoir allows you to make multiple cups of coffee or tea quickly and easily without having to constantly refill the tank.

While most coffeemakers geared toward the foodservice and consumer markets often look too industrial for the home, Grindmaster’s superb design and engineering prowess makes any of the machines look right at home in the home. Grindmaster merged with Cecilware in 2009, expanding its reach to more than 90 countries through distributorships across Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.

Grindmaster-Cecilware manufactures a comprehensive line of quality beverage dispensing equipment for hot, cold, and frozen beverages and a complementary foodservice equipment line. The company markets their products to over 90 countries under the Grindmaster, Crathco, and Cecilware brand names, and has a qualified network of international distributors located across Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America. Products include retail, industrial and foodservice quality hot, cold and frozen beverage makers, including, of course, the Grindmaster line of superior coffeemakers, grinders, airpots, warmers and urns.

Before its sale, Grindmaster was owned privately by a Birmingham, Michigan firm. The new company, Grindmaster-Cecilware, has more than 375 employees and is expanding its 116,000 square foot Louisville, Kentucky plant.
